Sorry I’m late. Did I miss anything? Yup.
Hey, some news occurred while I was out of commission! Of course it did. ASM never sleeps.
Now, if you read the campus papers, you know SSFC cut a little bit from the Vets for Vets budget, although the Badger Herald refers to the cuts as “major”. Perhaps a little judgmental. Some of the cuts were made simply because state law creates maximum rates that the state can spend on certain things, like hotel rooms and meals while travelling.
In other news, SSFC voted to remove Kyle Szarzynski from the committee. Though the relationship between Szarzynski and SSFC had been contentious, his removal was based purely on attendence purposes. SSFC members are allowed to have 3 unexcused absences and Szarzynski had more than double that.
Leg Affairs meets tonight and they’ll be discussing the Downtown Plan as well as going over the issue of the city creating a student vote on the Alcohol License Review Committee. This topic is also on the Student Council agenda for Wednesday. Big stuff!
If you don’t know about this issue, The Badger Herald has already called for a boycott of The Nitty Gritty and so has the Daily Cardinal. Goodbye Power Hour. Seriously, though, this issue has become quite contentious and, you know me, I love debate. Want the other side of this argument? Check out the comment sections on the papers’ websites or read Marsh Shapiro’s response.
Now, if you’ve been keeping up with your countdown calendar you’ll notice that tomorrow is…..
Student Council Liveblog!!!!!!!1!!!!!
Yup. The doors will open here shortly before 6:30 p.m. I’ll be with you the whole time and we’re gonna have some fun. Will there be egg rolls again? Probably not but some other great happenings will be occurring.
The new Freshman Representatives will be representing (yeah, I did just do that. cry about it.) and, like I said before, the Council may choose to take a side on the ALRC student vote issue.
The change to the attendance policy will also be up for final (I think) consideration, as will the SSFC accountability bylaws which have taken up much of the Council’s time the past two meetings.
And there’s oh so much more, my fair Badgers! Just you wait and see.
