The Academic Affair…
The Academic Affairs Committee met Tuesday night to plan their upcoming FAFSA Week events as well as looking towards this Wednesday’s Student Council meeting for approval of a new Shared Governance committee geared towards monitoring textbook prices.
The finalized dates for the upcoming FAFSA week are April 19 through 23, and the events include FAFSA help sessions with Financial Aid Office staffers. Yay for money!
AA will ask SC to approve the creation of the Textbook Affordability Committee, which will be open to all and run by 3 faculty members, 3 academic staff and 3 students who have voting powers. The committee will keep an eye on textbook prices and other issues, and report to Faculty Senate, Student Council and Academics Senate. AA is also still working on a faculty petition to take to Faculty Senate in support of the committee’s creation. Gotta love cheaper textbooks instead of having to sell an organ or similar to pay for them each semester.
So we can have an update on the progress of the Textbook Affordability Committee after SC Wednesday night…til then peace and bring me pb m&ms at SC (yes i am also a big fan of pb m&ms. they are vital to my life functions).
