Getting a ‘Leg’ up before semester’s end…

April 5, 2010

According to suavely dressed Legislative Affairs Chair Adam Johnson, the magic number of the day is 25.

But unlike the ’25’ cents in a quarter, #25 Packer Ryan Grant, the 25 days of Christmas, or being age 25 to be able to rent a car….the significance of this ’25’ means more to Suave Johnson.

There are 25 DAYS left for this year’s session and his days as the LegAffairs Chair.

But Suave Johnson is not taking these days for granted….he and his committee have very specific, grandiose plans.

At the CITY level:

-The LEASING LEGISLATION is on the agenda for the Housing Committee on Wednesday this week, April 7th at 5PM in LL10 in the Madison Municipal Building-the committee will be meeting at the SAC at 4:30PM to make the trip there.

-Taking additional steps in the Lighting Initiative plan-contacting housing and property managers.

-Having a developer of the Yhara Station plan come and present within the next 2 weeks-potentially on April 20th.

-Set up a brief on the ALRC Density plan for next semester’s committee.

At the STATE level:

-Plans are being discussed for possibly bringing candidates to the UW campus for a Gubernatorial Debate!!!!!!!!

Also of interest, Legislative Affairs is assisting Wisconsin Student Lobby (WSL) THIS SATURDAY for an event known as “Lobbypalooza” in the Humanities building. More info to follow-check out Twitter and the Facebook event.

So as you can clearly see,  congrats are in order  to Suave Johnson and his committee for all their hard work!!!! Three cheers!!!

Keep an eye out for future updates with the 16th ASM Session winding down and Legislative Affairs getting the most out of it….and remember lucky number 25!
